Project Overview
A new student residency for Select Property Group as part of the Vita Student Brand. The 19 storey development comprises 380 student rooms/studios - a mixture of single and double occupancy, communal space located around a central hub, retail space, gym and laundry. The building varies in height between 7,11 and 18 storeys and the three parts of the building are treated as separate entities, articulated by the external façade. The appearance of the building involves a woven pattern of glazed ceramic tiles. The development also includes a public realm and green space including terraced lawns.
The Challenge
The topography of the site was challenging, with a level change of around 5m from the North West corner of the site down to the South East.
Our Solution
In order to achieve the required floor to floor of 2.8m for planning and fire engineering purposes, we designed a slender vertical structural zone that dictated the construction of the super structure.
