Project Overview
Construction of the North Lincolnshire Special Education Needs (SEND) School. The school is part of the Free Schools Programme and will be operated by the Wellspring Trust.
The new 2,500 sqm school is single-storey and accommodates 60 post-16 pupils with special educational needs. The building is made up of classrooms, offices, a DT workshop, plant space, and a dining and sports hall, with an additional requirement for a hydrotherapy pool.
The Challenge
The project is Passivhaus design focusing on energy efficiency, thermal comfort and air quality to reduce the environmental impact of the building.
Our Solution
A cross-laminate timber frame was used with off-site manufacture to save time and contribute towards the Passivhaus design.
