A modern and flexible workplace for over 1000 Merseyside Police Authority team members.
A fire station located in the North West, consiting of two bays, offices and educational facilities
Blue Light - North West
This project includes the construction of a singlestorey two-bay fire station with offices, meeting rooms, external drill and training facilities and car parking. The scheme formed part of Merseyside Fire Authority’s drive to reduce spending to meet Government imposed budget cuts. The development replaces West Kirkby and Upton fire stations and sits on greenbelt land.
The building superstructure solution comprises a steel skeletal frame, with stability provided in one direction by the use of portalised moment (sway) frames, and in the other direction by the use of stiff braced bays.
To design a fire station to blend in with the local landscape which would be asthetically pleasing to the public.
As part of Curtins' design, features of the finished project include a green sedum roof, soft landscaping and bird / bat boxes to support biodiversity.
