Project Overview
The project comprised the refurbishment of one of Liverpool’s most famous buildings, built between 1924 and 1932, to provide a major new hub for HMRC.
The HMRC building consists of 9 storeys, a basement and sub-basement and is constructed on a steel frame which is clad in portland stone. The works included a Category A fit out, which involves major refurbishment to the grade twolisted building, including the provision of office space, remedial works and major external repairs to ensure it is viable as a fully working building. The building has been leased back to HMRC for use as a ‘supercentre’.
The Challenge
The historic and iconic building in Liverpool's city centre required careful and considered retrofitting to conserve its heritage features.
Our Solution
We understand the importance of conserving and sensitively restoring heritage structures so their stories can continue. Our solutions are driven by our commitment to be sympathetic to the historically significant structures we design for. Our aim on this project was to minimise intervention whilst achieving a solution that would regenerate the building for use as modern office space.
