Project Overview
This new on-site raised helicopter landing pad, funded by the HELP Appeal, is situated immediately adjacent to the hospital’s Urgent Care and Trauma Centre.
The helipad will reduce the transfer time for critical patients from the current off-site landing area. Since construction the pad has averaged two landings per week, giving seriously ill patients access to the hospital’s Emergency Department in just a few seconds after landing in an air ambulance.
The Challenge
To deliver a high quality helipad that would withstand downwash forces exerted by the helicopter during approach, landing and take-off.
Our Solution
Curtins used data from the Aviation industry, to design a perimeter fence structure and its foundations, that would withstand downwash forces ensuring safe landing for the crew.
