Project Overview
This project provides a new Endoscopy Unit and Interventional Suites at York Teaching Hospital. The increased capacity meets growing demand and facilitates the safe and efficient provision of services that offer both privacy and dignity to patients at every stage of their pathway. The unit improves waiting times and increases the range of procedures offered, meaning fewer patients travel to Leeds or Hull. It’s the largest and most modern unit in England and provides the Trust with a centre of excellence for Endoscopy services.
The new unit involved the refurbishment of the existing single-storey physiotherapy building with a new two-storey steel frame built vertically above and beyond the existing single-storey footprint. The development is situated on a live heavily developed hospital site.
