Curtins’ presentation with Airedale General Hospital and Hive Projects on RAAC remediation is the focus of a five-page spread in the IHEEM Health Estate Journal, highlighting the potential issues of RAAC, the challenges of remediation within a live hospital environment and spotlighting lessons learned at the hospital as it safely and effectively deals with the presence of RAAC.

The presentation and subsequent article share expertise on the topic from Curtins’ engineers Andy Buckley, Design Director, and Associate Oliver Organ – noted to be “considered a leading engineer in RAAC.”

Co-presenting with them were Richard Burgin – an “industry leader” in RAAC and Estates Lead at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, and Chris Waine, Project Director at Hive Projects.

‘The Curtins Approach’ to investigating, assessing and developing solutions for RAAC is outlined in the article, with examples from Airedale to illustrate solutions. Through Curtins’ targeted assessments and remediation, the RAAC repair programme has been brought forward from the 2030 completion target to 2028.
