- 10k in Aid of Liverpool Domestic Abuse Services
Over the summer, I had the opportunity to raise funds for Liverpool Domestic Abuse Services, by running a 10k race. After learning about alarming rises in domestic violence cases, especially during the Euros football match, I was motivated to support those who often suffer in silence. It was a chance to combine my passion for running with my commitment to making a difference. I hope that by fundraising, I've helped to contribute to a safer, more supportive environment for those in need and spread awareness.
Kate Clegg and Jo Shelston (also from our Liverpool office) joined me in the run as Curtins' race team, helping to spread awareness. Here is what inspired them:
Kate Clegg:
“Getting out for training runs has been an opportunity to build my fitness back up post kids, and take time to clear my mind after a busy day. Doing the race was for my mum and dad though. Mum's been unwell, so during a lot of the training I was reflecting on her own battle and how lucky I am to have the opportunity to exercise. Crossing the finish line was for them, and they cheered our team the whole way!“
Jo Shelston:
“I used to run a lot before I had kids. It was my thinking-time and the physical and mental effects of running were always so positive. I missed it a lot but gradually lost the courage to try another race. Gayathri and Kate were an absolute inspiration, fundraising and raising awareness for this great cause, and I really wanted to support them both. They were my main motivation for this race, but the result for me is that I will keep running now.”
